12 October 2017

The Reconstruction of the Being will open its doors to the Turkish public on October 12 at the Folkart Gallery, where Jorge Marín will be the first Latin American sculptor to be exhibited. This exhibition space is the largest gallery in Turkey.

Folkart Gallery, located on the 18th floor of the Tower B of the Folkart Towers, is an emblematic building for contemporary architecture. It was inaugurated in 2015 with an exhibition that include pieces of artisits as Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, Salvador Dali, Eugène Delacroix, Le Corbusier, Man Ray and Joseph Beuys, among others.

With the arrival of The Reconstruction of the Being to Izmir, the 10 works that make up the exhibition will begin a tour arround other Turkish cities seeking to build unbreakable bonds between our countries, through art.

The Reconstruction of the Being is made up by 10 monumental bronze sculptures that invite to a reflection on the individual's construction processes, besides exploring the concept of the body as a vehicle through which we connect with the world, observe the environment and generate memories.

In this exhibition, Jorge Marín holds an introspective exercise, about the mind as the sum of fragments that make us human. It explores the constant construction and deconstruction of the being by interacting with the work and the body as a mean of contact with the environment.

The Reconstruction of the Being arrives to Izmir as the result of the collaborative effort of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, the Mexican Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID), the Mexican Embassy in Turkey, Folkart Gallery and CerModern Gallery.
