A media outlet, which has recently become a flag-bearer of political polarization in our country, has featured unreal, scornful, malicious, deliberately hostile, and false claims about Mesut Sancak, the Chairman of Board of Directors of Folkart Yapı A.Ş. These are also shared on the social media due to “lack of accurate information.”
Facing a preplanned and concerted campaign of disinformation, we naturally ask the question:
WHAT IS THEIR ULTIMATE END GAME? WHAT DO THEY EXPECT? WHAT DO THEY WANT?
The answers to these questions are actually obvious...
FIRSTLY, THESE ARE PASSION, LACK OF REMORSE, AND HIDDEN AGENDA.
As colloquially referred to: “it’s futile even if you do miracles“ it is impracticable and an
A TURNED-DOWN “ADVERTISING” REQUEST...
Based on these cogent grounds, we saw it as our duty to inform the public:
None of the information referred to in the series of reports is accurate. These news reports aim to defame and seek to tarnish the reputations of Folkart and Mesut Sancak. They aim to cause commercial harm to the company. It is complete fiction that Folkart Çeşme projects are not fit to live in.
PROJECTS COMPLY WITH THE LAW
Folkart applied to the relevant public bodies, including the municipality, before launching the Çeşme Paşalimanı Great Port Bay project, and obtained all the necessary permits. Projects are currently under construction under the helm of Çeşme Municipality. It enforces the laws justly based on the zoning status that has been valid since 1984.
There are also several other projects ongoing at similar locations in different parts of Çeşme.
Folkart did not receive any privilege or special rights related to the zoning status of its projects. Claims that Folkart “has exceeded its precedent rights,” or “is not compliant with the legislation” are completely false.
Folkart puts great emphasis on protecting the natural environment on its Çeşme projects. The water extracted during the foundation works on the construction site field is sea water. Although there is no obligation to do so, Folkart re-diverts the water collected to the sea after it is processed in a special filtration system. Folkart is an eco-friendly company, as stated in its mission statement.
The distance of the projects from the sea is well beyond the distance stipulated by law in the zoning plans. Claims related to this matter have all been completely made up. Folkart respects the ban on construction during the tourism season enforced by the Çeşme Municipality, contrary to the claims made.
It is unethical and unlawful to target Folkart as a “public enemy number one” with such statements as “Folkart has usurped the public road” used in the reports. In contrast to this libelous mindset, Folkart regulates the beltways while contributing to the preservation of the green fields in its project practices.
Folkart brings dignity to Izmir and Çeşme with all of its projects. Folkart sought to raise awareness of the beauty of Çeşme both in Turkey and the world, rather than harming Çeşme as has been claimed in certain baseless news stories.
The Folkart TV ad broadcast on all channels actually aims to promote and highlight Çeşme and its treasures, more than Folkart’s projects. It is complete nonsense to say that such a company is carrying out an environmental massacre in Çeşme.
Bringing the same groundless news stories forward again and again is part of this smear campaign being undertaken to impose their hidden agenda.
IZMIR TRAFFIC FOUNDATION
News reports on the Izmir Traffic Foundation serving the public benefit under the chairmanship of Mesut Sancak are completely defamatory.
The sole purpose of the Izmir Traffic Foundation is to offer projects that will solve the parking lot problem and ease traffic congestion. Mesut Sancak provided support together with several other esteemed business people from Izmir to establish the foundation. The management of the Traffic Foundation will cater to the public benefit in this way.
Mesut Sancak assumed the chairmanship of the foundation upon the request of the esteemed administrators of the city. Furthermore, the establishment of the foundation requires a certain amount of monetary contribution by the founders as per the law. This being the case, it is an immense scandal to give the impression that someone is making money "through" the foundation.
Mesut Sancak is accused in these news reports of taking sides with the Turkish government. This is not a crime, but rather an honor. It is a matter of responsibility as citizens that all business people, including Mesut Sancak, who display wisdom, love the country, stay outside politics, make investments, and create employment opportunities, need to back current public administrators, no matter which government is in charge.
Thus, it is documented that the claims brought by this and similar news reports are not true. Continuing to publish such stories does not comply with journalism ethics and principles. This kind of falsified news-making has nothing to do with true journalism at all. It is rather an abuse of power.
WE WILL EXERCISE OUR LEGAL RIGHTS
As these news stories aim to harm Folkart both commercially and morally, and violate the personal rights of Mesut Sancak, this constitutes a material crime element.
Folkart has always taken part in and promoted every project that will make a major contribution to Izmir with its goodwill and sympathy. These defamatory actions will not divert us from our path.
Folkart is always cited in Izmir and in Turkey as a shining example for its social responsibility projects in culture & art, and corporate social responsibility. It will continue to treat everyone equally.
Under no circumstances will Folkart remain silent on similar reports against Folkart and its chairman, Mesut Sancak. At the same time, after this declaration, Folkart will not give credit to similar news reported on this media outlet. It will exercise its legal rights believing in the principle of the rule of law.
While our refutations are not published on the media outlet publishing such deliberately false news, we herewith promise that indemnities, which we believe to be entitled upon judgments, will be spent for the sake of our lovely Izmir.
